I am running this on Windows 7 64 bit and nothing works. It loads up no problem, but locking the machine does not mute, neither does using the hot-key combination.

Hello Kevin!

Please activate the Windows Compatibility Mode feature and set it to Windows XP. We are aware of this problem and will fix it in the next version of Mute on Lock.

Hi,
I really like the concept of Mute on Lock. Unfortunately, I've had to disable it, as several times, it has muted my sound and there was no way I could unmute the sound without rebooting. I think this happens when I place the laptop into sleep mode while a sound is playing (for example, I close my laptop just as an email is coming in, which plays a sound).

I'm running Vista Home Premium (with latest updates) on a stock Dell Studio 15. I *did* enable the Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Hello Jim!

What exactly power options do you use? (Please check the Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options applet)

What the system Volume Control tool shows after returning to work? That the volume is enabled and its level is at max?

Hi Valerian,
I will let you know next time it happens. As I recall, the system shows unmuted sound and the volume was correct. Clicking on the system mute icon made no difference. And, no sound available.

As for power settings, since there are many, which ones are you interested in? I use a custom profile so that the laptop only sleeps after two hours. Hibernate is off and disk powerdown is off. If you let me know which advanced settings you are interested in, I would be happy to let you know.

Thanks for the great support!

Jim, I suspect something. Please try this sequence for helping me to identify the problem: remove Mute on Lock from the Windows startup or uninstall it, then reboot your computer. On next start, mute your sound manually using the Volume Control applet and then turn the laptop into a standby mode (by using a command from the Start submenu). Then resume from the standby and unmute (by the same manual technique). Does your sound work normally after all?

Yes, my sound works normally after that.

Sorry to report that I've been unable to get MoL to misbehave yet, but I'm working on it :)

Thanks,

jim

I have set it to launch in compatibility mode (Win XP) but it does not mute when I lock my computer. I can't get it to mute at all. Any suggestions?

Thanks

It is alright, Jim, no hurries. Please report when you will spot any issues.

What Windows version do you use? Did you restart the application after applying the mode?
